For the Shoe Conference back in February four of the shoemakers at Bill Bird Shoes; Emily, Rebecca, Chris & George made their own shoes especially for the event. Everyone had a last carved by Bill and then set to work creating their own unique pairs.
A Special Gift: Bill's Norwegian Derby Shoes
As a thank you for carving the lasts for everyone the team came together to treat Bill to a new pair of shoes of his own.
Bill chose a Norwegian derby style made from one of our most popular leathers. The Dublin Bay (green) Country Cow from AA Crack has a waxy finish that can be highly polished or left for a more natural, casual look.
Pictured is Bill having a fitting of his new shoes. At this stage the uppers are lasted and there is a false heel attached. There is no sole attached at this point. We are able to see how the shoe fits and is performing. Any alterations that might be required can be made once a fitting is complete. In this case a perfect fit, just a small change to the toe shape.
Now the shoes move to the next stage to be fully finished with the soles and heels built. Watch this space for the finished pair soon.
